Hey, friend. It's Jason - here to remind you that Hey, friend. It's Jason - here to remind you that your story matters. Why am I reminding you? Well...

During the pandemic, I thought a lot about my own story and my own ancestral heritage.

While I have a pretty good adoption story, meaning I was raised by wonderful parents and have pretty awesome siblings, I started to wonder what’s out there? Who is out there?

Friends, I found some pretty harrowing heritage stuff (lynchings, migration, the whole nine) and then I found something pretty unexpected. I found a part of my story that hadn’t been told.

So, this is us. Husband, wife, father, mother, actors, producers, seekers, educators, and explorers of identity.
And now: podcast hosts.

I invite you to join us as we tell our stories. We’ll talk identity. We’ll talk history. And I’ll reveal the big part of my family story that knocked me on my ass for a good month.

 - J

Coming September 15th.. our new podcast: Lagralane Coming September 15th.. our new podcast: Lagralane Spirits.
We invite you into our living room for a family spirit symposium, a real-talk meeting of the minds over reverent cocktails.

Each week we examine an important topic related to identity that not only is about our own history and how we identify, but is also rooted in social issues, historical events and even a little genealogy.

We get into some heavy stuff that often needs the light lift of a cocktail. Therefore, each episode includes a curated cocktail that we then share with a guest as we ask them their “Cocktail Confession” in relation to that episode’s topic. It’s a lot of fun!

So, join us as we dive back in time to examine the legacy of our ancestors that have shaped the stories of our shared cultural history.

By the way, you can find all of our original cocktail recipes and show notes on lagralanespirits.com. And as always, please enjoy responsibly!

However, sailors often had drinks with a similar list of ingredients, although they didn’t call them Whiskey Sours yet. Lemons helped prevent Scurvy and liquor was a safer choice than drinking water on long sea journeys. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Social drinking can be traced back to many ancient Social drinking can be traced back to many ancient civilizations who drank at various festivals, celebrations, and religious ceremonies. However, our favorite social drinking tradition comes from the Ancient Greeks. They gathered together for “symposium”, a gathering of the minds, where people could drink together, debate, and tell stories. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Throughout history, partaking in spirits has been a way to cultivate conversations and build a community around shared experiences and perspectives. We hope you’ll join us very soon (with or without alcohol) to explore all things identity through the lens of our history - including the history we are writing right now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
